The primary purpose of this blog is for me to update those who are interested on my life and research project, as well as receive some much needed feedback. Any and all relevant input, comments, questions, and criticisms are very much appreciated. This is my "primary blog," as most of the others I have are used for networking and keeping up with those I know without an LJ.
I'm like a confused little kid trying to make sense of the big world in the most hardcore way possible.
-And this indeed is the best, most accurate, and most concise summary of myself that I've ever come up with.
Everything that I do deliberately, I do to accomplish my purpose in life. I see everything else as distractions that I need to rid myself of. (or redeem, depending)
I don't consider any human being to be my enemy, ESPECIALLY not those who consider me THEIR enemy. We are all in this fight together. None of us are free until all of us are free.
I don't ask rhetorical questions. For each question I ask a person, I hope for a reply.
...and most people still don't get my sense of humor. I can't tell if its because its too subtle, or too explicit. I don't even understand my own use of sarcasm at times.
-Here's a clue: I mean everything in both a joking AND serious way at the same time UNLESS I CLEARLY indicate otherwise. (get it?)
I think I may actually be some sort of gadfly or other.
I plan to flutter by Hong Kong in a few years. I also plan on returning to the U.S. someday after; don't know when yet.
*I see language learning as the appropriate analogy for learning anything. I am interested in everything to an extent (with primarily a "science emphasis"), and since languages change how you see things, I plan on always learning a new language throughout my entire life to "keep me on my toes," and many other reasons (to "prove" that anyone can make the time to learn another language, stretch their thinking, etc.), unless/until life circumstances make it non-feasible.
Languages I know to some extent (in order of fluency):
-English (fluent)
-Esperanto (basic)
-Spanish (eh, I can get by)
-Russian (rusty)
-Lojban (learning)
-(biblical) Hebrew (learning)
-Punjabi! (learning)
*I plan on learning all of the above languages to some advanced/useful level, plus the following (eventually): Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Hindi, ASL, Koine Greek, and any other language that proves immediately useful enough to learn. (likely "maybes": Toki Pona, Attic Greek, any language I can share with a friend that they are willing to converse with me in [suggestions welcome!])
*I also work on-and-off creating various languages. Each has its own purpose; more to come soon.
I am pro-life because over the last 50 years we, the human species, have murdered in cold blood more humans via surgical and (hormonal) contraceptive abortion than have died of all other causes of death throughout all of human history combined, including all abortions previous to 50 years ago. Stop it.
-And please don't be lazy; anyone reading this can easily look up the statistics online; they are public record.
I'll have more to say about myself at some point. Relevant links coming soon as well. Until then, here are my notes-to-self reminders:
-Reasons to Believe
-EPM
-ATM? (better than?)
-Fiction:
changethesystem
-Nonfiction:
systemic_change (for more professionally written, less personal writings; more ordered than what I can put in a personal blog while still figuring things out/talking about them in conversation)
***Alan Keyes for President 2012!***
...and something fun:
Empirically proven: truth is always stranger than fiction! Don't believe me? Go to any bookstore, and pick a non-fiction book you think is "too hard for you," (the "harder," the better) and read it all the way through. Then compare this to fiction you have read. I believe all of us must WORK continually to understand truth; we are aliens to it, and without truth, all that is left to us is falsehood.
-Example: in learning about the diversity of life that is actually on Earth, it is WAY, WAY WEIRDER than the weirdest aliens I have ever read about or seen/heard on the propaganda boxes, and I read A LOT of science fiction. Like the crustacean that eats a certain fish's tongue, and then replaces it... or that colony organism that assembles itself into a "slug," in order to travel to more agreeable places, then reproduces via a sporangium, all while photosynthasizing (like an animal, plant, fungus, single-celled organism, AND multi-cellular organism combined! Yay protist! "The protist protested the scientist's scientific classification system for life, not letting itself be classified, so the scientist called it a 'protest,' and to protest, the protest called itself a 'protist,' and won." Yay!).
--With that last part, now do you get the "serious and joking at the same time" deal?
